Deadline for Submission: Last Business Day in September Annually

One $500 scholarship will be awarded and can be used towards any of the following:

  • CAE certification costs, including fee for the test, study materials and study courses, and initial CAE licensing fee.
  • In lieu of obtaining CAE certification, the scholarship award may be used to acquire the “body of knowledge” that becoming a CAE, or improving your value to your organization, would require.  This includes utilizing the study materials and courses that are part of the CAE certification process as well as other resources available to you.  You must be specific in identifying the items the scholarship award will be used for.
  • MASAE Seminars, excluding the Annual Conference (it is not necessary to indicate the specific program(s) as they may not all be scheduled at the time of application).  For purposes of identifying specific costs, you can presume a cost of $99 per program for members and $139 for non-members.
  • ASAE programs (must be specified).

NOTE:  This application must indicate specifically what you are applying for and the related cost stating how the proceeds from the scholarship would be used.  The scholarship is non-transferable.

Scholarship Guidelines

MASAE is accepting applications from qualified members for the financial support of those selected members to further their professional education in the association industry.  Therefore, the essay portion of the application requires a discussion of why you and your association need the funding, and why this education would not be available to you otherwise.  Non-member applicants must include a letter of recommendation from a member.

  • Any MASAE member in good standing is eligible to apply for the scholarship program.  In addition, non-members may apply provided they submit a letter of recommendation from a member.
  • The application must contain specific programs, course materials, etc. that are being applied for with the exception of MASAE seminars Applicants will be judged based on their involvement in MASAE, their need for the funds, along with an essay.
  • Applications must be received by MASAE by November 10, 2017.
  • All members of the Scholarship Committee will review applications and selections will be made based on the completed application.
  •  Scholarship funds will be used to defray costs for the recipient for the noted education for which the application is being submitted.  Failure to use the scholarship for the indicated purposes will result in forfeiture of funds.  Unused funds will revert to the MASAE chapter scholarship fund.
  • Scholarship funds will be paid either directly by MASAE or reimbursed to recipient with proper documentation.
  • Costs above the amount of scholarship are the responsibility of the member.
  • Recipients will be required to write a short article for Pace covering the highlights of their experience.
  • The scholarship is non-transferable.

Prepare an essay that explains why you should receive this scholarship and attach below as instructed.  Your essay must include a discussion of why you and your association need the funding from the scholarship and why this education would not be available to you otherwise.  Your essay may also include areas such as:

  •  Your current duties within your organization
  •  Describe how the education and/or programs you are applying for will benefit your organization
  •  Note one major accomplishment you have obtained within your organization
  •  Note one major goal you have in the coming year with respect to your organization
