Amy is Chair of the 2012 MASAE Conference Planning Committee and a member of the ASAE AMC Section Council. She has earned the Certified Association Executive designation from the American Society of Association Executives and is a graduate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute for Organizational Management. Amy was recognized as a 2007 Young & Aspiring Association Executive by Association TRENDS magazine. Amy holds a B.A. in Political Science and a Masters in Public Administration.
Then, at 10:00 am, Susan Nelson, CAE, will present “The President’s Orientation Session,” Part II of our Board Development Series. Don’t wait until your President is in office to talk about their priorities and vision for their “year”. Learn how you can enhance the effectiveness of your President’s term through an orientation session that is held BEFORE he/she assumes office. This session will outline the components of the President’s Orientation Session and provide you with resources that will help guide the process for setting goals, understanding expectations, establishing communication preferences and enhancing the President’s overall effectiveness.
Susan has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lycoming College, Pennsylvania. Susan is a graduate of the Institute for Organizational Management, a program aimed specifically at the education of association executives. Susan earned her certified association executive (CAE) designation from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) in May 2002. It’s always a good practice to review your association compliance and legal issues before the year gets away from you. This program will provide a legal update for 2012 including federal, state legislative and legal developments relevant to all Employers. The program will focus on the impact of social media, new initiatives by the National Labor Relations Board which will impact every private employer whether unionized or not, among many other topics. In addition this program will focus on recent developments affecting group health plans including Health care reform and HIPAA/HITECH audits and other requirements. She is a graduate of Fordham University (B.A., cum laude, 1985) and was awarded the degree of Juris Doctor by Catholic University, Columbus School of Law, Washington, D.C. in 1989.
Mr. Lazzarotti’s work in the benefits counseling area covers virtually all areas of employee benefits law. For example, as part of the Firm’s Healthcare Reform Taskforce, he advises employers and plan sponsors regarding the establishment, administration and operation of fully insured and self-funded health and welfare plans, which includes counseling concerning the new reform law, as well as assisting in the set up of administrative and other arrangements with third-party administrators, claims administrators and other vendors. Mr. Lazzarotti holds a B.B.A. in public accounting, cum laude, from Pace University, and a J.D., with distinction, from the University Missouri-Kansas City School of Law.

Vincenzo Nelli is the Program Manager for the Society for Information Management (SIM), a client partner of Association Headquarters. SIM is a national association with approximately 3,400 senior IT professionals. With SIM, Vincenzo is responsible for managing the Advanced Practices Council, Regional Leadership Forums and Partner Program. Previously, he was the Assistant Executive Director for the Society for Foodservice Management (SFM). Prior to working in association management, Vincenzo was the Clubhouse Manager at two country clubs outside of Philadelphia. Vincenzo has a B.S. in Hospitality Management from Widener University.
